Campo dos Padres

Campo dos Padres is the last untouched frontier and is located in the wildest region of the Santa Catarina mountain range.
In this inhospitable place and difficult to access are the highest elevations in the state: Morro da Boa Vista (Bela Vista do Ghizoni) with 1827m of altitude, Morro do Chapéu with 1823.49m, and Morro do Campo dos Padres with 1798m.

The name is an allusion to the passage of the Jesuits who in the 18th century took refuge in flight from the Spanish missions. The place holds many legends of treasures kept hidden by the priests. It is surrounded by mountains, cliffs, and canyons, and springs from the Canoas and Itajaí-Açu rivers, which form the main hydrographic basins in the state.

The climate in the Serra Catarinense is unstable. As it is a higher region, it is usually cooler in the morning and at night, and warmer in the afternoon.
